Technology, Media and TelecomHidde specializes in advising and litigating in cases relating to intellectual property law. Hidde focuses in particular on trademark, design and copyright law, as well as on advertising law.
In 2020, Hidde obtained his master’s degree in Intellectual Property-, Internet- and ICT-law at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He wrote his thesis on the question whether de-branding can be judged on the one hand on trademark law or on the other hand on the rules of unfair competition. In addition to this specialized master's, Hidde completed the masters of law in Private Law in 2021. In addition to his studies, Hidde did various internships at law firms, both at a niche firm in the field of intellectual property law and at various large law firms. Hidde has been working at Ploum as an attorney at law January 2022.

Hidde van der Kaaij has registered the following principal (and secondary) legal practice areas in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister):
• Intellectual property law
Based on this registration, Hidde van der Kaaij is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
