Tom Ensink

He especially feels comfortable in complicated cross border transactions involving many parties, with different interests, be it (strategic) buyers/sellers, investors, banks, borrowers or partners. Tom works in various sectors including tech/telecom, pharmaceuticals and industry. He has great affinity with tech deals, start up en venture capital deals for US parties. As a member of the America desk he regularly visits this country, and represents many US and Canadian clients.

Background

Tom started his career in 1991 with Nauta Dutilh, one of the Dutch big firms. In 1997 he moved to Ploum, where he joined the partnership in 1999. Tom graduated from the law school of Maastricht University (1989) and Tulane Law School in New Orleans (1991).

  • 'Die Bankgarantie im internationalen Handelsverkehr’, Graf von Westphalen, Fachmedien Recht under Wirtschaft, Dfv Mediengruppe, 2014. In dit boek over bankgaranties neemt Tom het Nederlandse deel voor zijn rekening.
  • ‘The International Comparative Legal Guide to Project Finance’, 2017, a comparative book on project finance, Tom describes the various aspects of project finance under Dutch law,

The Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister)

Tom Ensink has registered the following principal (and secondary) legal practice areas in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister):

  • Corporate law (ondernemingsrecht) sub legal practice area directors’ liability (bestuurdersaansprakelijkheid), sub legal practice area mergers and acquisitions (fusies en overnames), sub legal practice area companies (vennootschappen) and sub legal practice area associations (verenigingen) and foundations (stichtingen);
  • Contract law (verbintenissenrecht).

Based on this registration, Tom Ensink is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
